Definitions
Deafblindness: An individual who is deafblind is one who has a combined loss of vision and hearing. Neither their vision nor their hearing can be used as a primary source of accessing information.
Intervention: The term "Intervention" means to go between or to mediate between. With regards to persons who are deafblind, Intervention is the process which allows an individual who is deafblind to receive non-distorted information such that he or she can interact with his or her environment.
Intervenor: An Intervenor is a person who provides Intervention to an individual who is deafblind. An Intervenor mediates between the person who is deafblind. An Intervenor mediates between the person who is deafblind and his or her environment to enable him or her to communicate effectively with and receive non-distorted information from the world around them. An Intervenor acts as the eyes and ears of the person with deafblindness.

An Intervenor is the primary means through which an individual who is deafblind communicates and interacts with the rest of the world. The Intervenor ensures that the person who is deafblind receives enough non-distorted information to be able to make independent decisions and then carry them through. The two figures are equal in size representing equality and respect. The four lines symbolize an interchange of information stemming from the eyes, ears, head, and heart.

Surdicécité :
Handicap défini comme la perte combinée de la vision et de l’audition; la
personne qui en souffre ne peut utiliser ni l’un ni l’autre de ces sens comme
source principale d’accès à l’information.
Intervention :
Le terme intervenir signifie s’entremettre ou encore, secourir. Dans le cas de
la surdicécité, l’intervention est la démarche qui permet aux personnes
sourdes-aveugles de recevoir de l’information non dénaturée et, ainsi,
d’interagir avec leur milieu.
Intervenant :
Personne qui intervient auprès d’une personne sourde-aveugle. L’intervenant
s’entremet entre la personne atteinte et son milieu pour l’aider non seulement à
recevoir de l’information non dénaturée, mais aussi à la transmettre
efficacement à son entourage. Il est en quelque sorte les yeux et les oreilles
de la personne vivant avec ce handicap.

Logotype :
Il est constitué de deux personnages qui représentent la personne sourde-aveugle
et l’intervenant. L’intervenant est le principal moyen par lequel une personne
sourde-aveugle communique et interagit avec le reste du monde. Il s’assure
qu’elle reçoit assez d’information non dénaturée pour pouvoir prendre des
décisions de façon indépendante et y donner suite. Les deux personnages sont de
même taille, ce qui symbolise l’égalité et le respect. Les quatre lignes
représentent l’échange d’information provenant des yeux, des oreilles, de
l’esprit et du cœur. |
